Meet Jennifer Landon, TRLT’s Newest Board Member

Jennifer Landon is the Founder and President of Journey Retirement Planning & Investment Management, an independent fiduciary advisory firm as well as Journey Financial Services, Inc. based in Idaho Falls. For more than 25 years, she has helped individuals and families across the country navigate retirement, investments, and financial planning with confidence and clarity.

Jennifer believes thoughtful stewardship extends beyond finances to the communities and landscapes we cherish. Raised in a farming community, she developed an early appreciation for farm lands and their importance in the character and identity of South East Idaho. It’s who we are!

She is honored to serve on the Board of Directors for the Teton Regional Land Trust and support its mission to protect the farms, ranches, open spaces, and natural beauty that make the Teton region so special.

Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, skiing, and floating local rivers. She especially loves the quietness of the early morning hours, and will travel great lengths to enjoy a good baseball game with her family.

What drew you to join the board at the Land Trust?

I grew up in a farming community, which gave me a deep appreciation for the importance of farming in our Idaho culture. I think it’s important to be mindful of the aspects of SE Idaho that have always given it its identity and soul.

I also love the outdoors—it’s where I feel most connected and find peace and perspective.

The Teton Valley is specifically meaningful to me, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to help preserve this landscape. Serving on the board is a meaningful way to give back and help ensure future generations can enjoy the same lifestyle benefits that we do today.

What is your favorite plant, flower, animal, bird, or river? (you can choose more than one)

A bear will always draw focus and attention, but one rainy spring day, I got the privilege of watching a mama moose with twin calves hanging outside my property. That was incredible too. And while they aren’t exactly native to the Tetons, I’ll admit I have a soft spot for alpacas because they always make me smile. Every spring I also look forward to spotting the bright yellow Western Tanagers around my house in the foothills of Ammon. As for rivers, I never get tired of floating the Teton River. It’s one of my favorite summer activities.

What is your favorite place outdoors?

Anywhere with a mountain view. Whether it’s watching the sunrise from my back porch, skiing at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, or relaxing at our home in Victor, being outdoors is where I feel most at peace.

What’s your favorite meal to cook or eat at home?

Tacos….easy…

What’s your favorite place in your home, and why?

My back patio… It’s shady and comfortable on a summer evening, and sunrises are the best

What are your hobbies or interests?

We love sports—especially baseball. Our son plays at the collegiate level, and there isn’t much better than watching a baseball game on a warm summer evening.

I also enjoy hiking, skiing, traveling, and spending time outdoors. Most of all, I love spending time with family and with interesting, kindhearted people who leave you better than they found you.

What inspires you?

I’m inspired by people with high integrity and selflessness—people who lead by example, keep their word, and leave people and places better than they found them. Those are qualities I admire and strive to live by every day.
