Funding Spolight
CHC Foundation
On a sunny fall afternoon in September, staff from the Teton Regional Land Trust enjoyed a wonderful float with board members from the CHC Foundation. During the day, CHC board member Ralph Isom commented, “CHC is glad to have participated in the preservation and restoration of the Teton River Basin and are glad to be involved in the effort.”
CHC Foundation is an independent philanthropic private foundation located in Idaho Falls, Idaho, that formed in 1985. CHC Foundation roots are the Sacred Heart Hospital, which was established in 1941 by the Franciscan Order of Perpetual Adoration, which in later years became Community Hospital of Idaho Falls and Parkview Hospital. CHC Foundation is not affiliated or associated with any other corporation or organization and is managed by an 11-person board of directors.
The foundation has been supporting projects in the following 10 counties in Eastern Idaho:Bonneville, Bingham, Butte, Clark, Custer, Fremont, Jefferson, Madison, Lemhi and Teton. CHC Foundation gives priority to innovative and enriching projects that serve the public interest and well-being and that significantly improve the quality of life for the people of the region. Since its inception the foundation has awarded over $12,000,000 in grants.
Teton Regional Land Trust has received generous grants from the CHC Foundation for several projects. CHC has funded numerous capital projects that make all our work possible, including a work vehicle, computer upgrades, a key phone system, a GIS plotter and a conservation easement handbook.
“The foundation funding has been a critical component for matching additional dollars for all of these projects,” said Bonnie Self, operations director. “We sincerely appreciate CHC Foundation’s role in conserving the most important natural resources in the UpperSnake River Watershed.”
